Hi Everyone,
My name is Lauren Sosa and I am a Pre-K teacher. I initially received my undergraduate degree in Business and Marketing from The College of New Jersey. I worked in business for about two years but eventually decided it wasn't for me. Coming from a long line of educators and being the oldest of 17 cousins, it dawned on me that teaching was the career for me. I am in my first year of teaching while enrolled in the Teacher Preparation Program/Master's in Education program at Saint Peter's College. This is only my second semester so I'm just getting started.
Although I consider myself to be pretty technologically savvy, I have never taken an online course and can really get angry with technology when it doesn't do what I want. However, I am always excited to learn new things and I feel technology can bring SO much to a curriculum and lessons. Although I do not have much technology besides one computer in my classroom, the students loveee the "computer center" and all the interactive learning it provides. I hope to gain many ideas and know-how from this course.
- Lauren :-)
Hi Lauren
ReplyDeleteI see you have your picture up too. Boy I better get cracking and figure out how to do.
It seems unfair how some schools are so much more ahead with teaching and incorporating technology into the class. It is all about the resources available. All children gravitate toward the computer and in many schools there are not many to share.

Hi Lauren,
ReplyDeletewill you keep on working as a Pre-K Teacher once you're done with the Certification Program or will you consider other options? I am researching all the possible scenarios for me once I'm done with this program - I have no teaching experience yet, but know for a fact that I'd LOVE to work with the little ones...
Best of luck to you :-)

Hi Lauren,
ReplyDeleteI too get really angry when technology doesn't do what I want! It has been a ROUGH week here at school. We're using Movie Maker and its slow to begin with but combined with EVERYTHINH being slow it has made me want to jump out the window. There's a ton of stuff out there for preschoolers now so I hope you learn a lot in this class.
Evelina,
ReplyDeleteBefore teaching Pre-K I have always wanted to middle school/high school math. Pre-K was just the grade I happen to get an opportunity to teach so I took it. I am still in the process of getting my teacher certification/Masters and taking additional math courses for that certification as well. I do think I will eventually make the transition to math, when just depends on completion of course work, paperwork and job opportunities.
